HONOR’s Toughest Phone Gains Water Resistance

As anticipated, HONOR officially unveiled the X9c in Malaysia with important upgrades to make the brand’s toughest phone even better.

HONOR used double tempered glass for the display and a revamped curvature on the frame to make it more durable than its predecessor. Those upgrades give the X9c a 2-meter drop resistance and scratch resistance. To back HONOR’s confidence, it is offering a 365-day warranty for the front and back glass, where you get a one-time replacement for free.

The X9c has a unique IP65M rating making it water resistant enough even while using it for activities that involve a lot of water splashes and also against strong water jets. This is made possible through three layers of protection around the phone’s buttons, ports, and down to internal components.

Aside from being tough. HONOR is also pushing battery limits on the X9c with a 6600mAh silicon-carbon cell–all while having the same thickness as its predecessor. HONOR claims as much as 3 days of battery life, which is a feat for any modern phone. Top-up speeds are also better with support for 66w wired charging. Similar to vivo’s move with the V40 Lite, HONOR is providing a 36-month warranty on the X9c’s battery, assuring that its health will be within 80% in 3 years.

Moving to the display, the X9c’s AMOLED panel now has 4000nits peak brightness and 3840hz PWM dimming for better eye protection, and the speakers are now a stereo setup. As for the cameras, the X9c gets OIS on its 108-megapixel main shooter, while the 16-megapixel selfie shooter is accompanied by an ambient light sensor–hence the capsule-shaped punch-hole.

The internals are roughly the same as the X9b, so you’re still getting a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. However, HONOR this time is offering a 512GB variant in Malaysia. Gone from the X9c is the option for a vegan leather back–all three colorways are now glass.

The X9c is priced at RM 1499 (~Php 21k) for the 256GB variant and RM 1699(~Php 23k) for the 512GB variant. We expect the X9c to be available in the Philippines soon, so stay tuned for the latest updates.
